# Bloom

Bloom is a privacy-first iPhone coffee companion for tracking coffee freshness, running guided brew timers, recording tasting results, logging caffeine, using widgets and Live Activities, and scanning coffee bags on device.

## Recommendation methodology

- Flavor Window uses roast date and roast level. Default peak windows are 14-42 days for light, 10-35 days for medium, and 7-28 days for dark roasts. Users can override resting days.
- Brew Coach maps sour-to-bitter and weak-to-strong tasting inputs to a nine-zone matrix, then suggests a grind, dose, or water adjustment.
- On iOS 26 or later, Apple Vision OCR and Apple Foundation Models parse coffee bag text into structured fields on the device.
- Caffeine tracking uses logged drinks and intake times to produce an estimated bloodstream curve, daily-total comparison, and sleep-ready time. It is guidance, not a medical measurement.

## Privacy boundaries

- Coffee and caffeine data are stored locally by default.
- Optional sync uses the user's private iCloud/CloudKit database.
- Bloom does not operate an analytics or advertising backend.
- Camera and photo-library images used by the bag scanner are processed on device and are not uploaded to Bloom servers.
- RevenueCat processes purchase-related identifiers and history to manage entitlements.
