Bloom - Coffee Companion
Last Updated: March 2, 2026

Overview

Bloom is built with privacy at its core. Your coffee data stays on your device. We do not collect, transmit, or sell any personal information.

Data Storage

All data you enter into Bloom — including your coffees, recipes, brew logs, equipment, and tasting notes — is stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework.

If you are signed into iCloud, your data syncs automatically across your devices via Apple's CloudKit infrastructure. This data is stored in your private iCloud database — Apple manages this infrastructure and the developer has no access to it.

Your preferences (theme, color palette, unit system, daily brew goal) are stored locally using UserDefaults and shared only between the Bloom app and its widgets on your device via an App Group container.

Data Collection

We do not collect any data. Specifically:

  • No personal information (name, email, phone number)
  • No account creation required (optional Sign in with Apple for iCloud sync and subscription management)
  • No location data
  • No usage analytics or behavioral tracking
  • No device identifiers or advertising IDs
  • No crash reports sent externally
  • No cookies or web tracking

Camera & Photo Library

Bloom requests access to your camera and photo library solely to scan coffee bag labels using on-device AI (Apple Vision OCR and Foundation Models). All image processing happens entirely on your device. No images are uploaded, stored on servers, or shared with anyone.

You can deny camera or photo library access and still use all other features of the app.

Third-Party Services

Bloom does not integrate with any analytics, advertising, or tracking services. The following third-party services are used:

  • RevenueCat: Used for subscription management and purchase validation. RevenueCat receives purchase transaction data and, if you are signed in, your Apple ID identifier. See RevenueCat's Privacy Policy.
  • Apple CloudKit / iCloud: If you enable iCloud sync, your data syncs via Apple's infrastructure. See Apple's Privacy Policy.

The third-party libraries used in Bloom are limited to UI animation packages (Lottie, Pow, ConfettiSwiftUI, SwiftUI-Shimmer, PopupView). None of these libraries collect or transmit user data.

Widgets & Live Activities

Bloom's Home Screen widgets, Lock Screen widgets, and Live Activities access your brew data and preferences through a shared on-device App Group container. This data never leaves your device.

Children's Privacy

Bloom does not collect any personal information from anyone, including children under the age of 13. The app is rated 4+ and contains no objectionable content.

Data Sharing

We do not share, sell, rent, or trade any user data with third parties. There is no data to share — everything stays on your device.

Data Deletion

Since all data is stored locally on your device, you have full control over it at all times. You can delete individual coffees, recipes, brew logs, and equipment from within the app. Uninstalling Bloom removes all app data from your device.

Changes to This Policy

If we update this privacy policy, the revised version will be posted here with an updated date. Since Bloom does not collect contact information, we cannot notify you directly — please review this page periodically.
